  • This side-arm launch glider is my attempt at a cheap and quick Alula-like plane. It has a KFm9 airfoil made from 4 layers of dollar tree foamboard, and a 3/16" square balsa spar. I added a launch peg and it was easy to get some really good launches out of it, although it didn't stay up nearly as long as the Alula due to the higher drag of the stepped airfoil. Worked ok as a light slope soarer. Eventually the nose got smashed up from repeated crashes and the plane was retired.
